When you begin a TOL study or a moderator wants you to share your screen in an online interview, you might need to download the UserZoom browser extension.
The extension only works during your study. It can't access your data or record your screen after the study is complete.
Setting up the extension
The extension is only supported on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

Google Chrome
- When you start a study that requires the extension, an automatic prompt to install the extension will appear.
- Follow this prompt to visit the UserZoom Surveys Chrome store page.
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Once you've installed the extension, you’ll receive a confirmation pop-up letting you know the setup is complete. Now you're ready to start the study!
You can also visit the Chrome store page to install the extension before your study.
We recently updated our Chrome browser recorder. As we roll out this new recorder, you might need to use the old extension to complete some studies. However, our rollout will conclude soon, eliminating the need to switch between the two browser versions.
Mozilla Firefox
- When you start a study that requires the extension, an automatic prompt to install the extension will appear.
- Click Allow in the prompt, and then click Add.
- Once you've installed the extension, you’ll receive a confirmation pop-up letting you know that the setup is complete. Now you're ready to start the study!
You can also install the extension before you start your study.
